Additional information

Dr. Georgios Mavromatidis is a post-doctoral researcher at the Chair of Building Physics at ETH Zurich and is also affiliated with the Laboratory for Urban Energy Systems at Empa Duebendorf. He holds a MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He also holds an MSc degree in “Sustainable Energy Futures” from Imperial College London, for which he won the “Best overall student performance” award by Imperial College’s Energy Futures Lab. He earned his PhD in the “Design of Distributed Urban Energy Systems under Uncertainty” from ETH Zurich in 2017.

His research interests include:

  • The optimal model-based design of building and urban energy systems

  • Uncertainty in the design of energy systems

  • The integration of renewable energy with building and urban energy systems

  • The interactions between building envelope retrofits and upgrades of building energy systems
